Fine art photographic prints are the result of a shutterbug that captures and pictorializes with their camera rather than just commissioned stills for public use such as with a news agency or newspaper.  These are considered professional works of creativity as opposed to snapping a picture for identification or clarification processes.  In a news story, a picture may accompany that work in order to point out the person, place, or thing that the story is about.  When a picture is taken in this capacity, it is done to draw out the beauty of the moment or subject as seen through the lenses of the artist taking the picture.

Fine art photographic prints can be a transfer to a number of surfaces including canvas, paper, fabric, wood, glass and many other types of materials.  This is also the case with reproductions of paintings.  This process allows for the possibility for these to be commissioned and authorized by the artist themselves with certificates of authenticity as well as being numbered in a limited edition offering.

Fine art photographic prints can be anything from abstracts to floral arrangements, from landscapes to cityscapes, or from portraits of people to architectural designs.  There is virtually no limit as to what the subject can be for the freelance cameraperson.  They may see beauty and vision where the picture may take place.  This vision is what sets the skilled craftsman apart from those that take pictures in journalism or commercial business such as modeling, advertising or other uses.

In essence, the camera becomes the shutterbug’s paint brush, and the canvas is the digital memory card or film.  The sky really is the limit.  Some people prefer these types of work because they are realistic and vibrant with all of the colors of the spectrum as seen in everyday life.  Fine art photographic prints can capture the realism of nature and life and transform it through the creativity of that individual holding the camera.  In many ways, this is the definition of what it means to offer the world what one sees without any reservations or alterations.  This approach to beauty and creativity is awe inspiring because it incorporates the here and now of reality with a bit of fantasy that might not have been seen quite in that way if the cameraperson behind the lens had not captured it at that very moment.  Everything looks different when viewed from an unexpected angle.  Therefore, someone else’s view from that angle might present something old in a brand new light.

Fine art photographic prints can be transferred in the same way that any type of painting or picture can be transferred.  This is by using serigraphy, giclee, or lithography.  While one may be better than another, depending on the type of material that the picture is being transferred to, all will absolutely give magnificent results to the person wishing to obtain a copy.

Many collectors prefer real life pictures.  This is mostly due to the fact that they are more realistic and natural looking and, therefore, easier for the viewer to relate to the picture.  They would rather have a snapshot of something that actually exists but is presented in a very creative way over something that is painted merely from imagination.
